Abbey Rosko paints from life, as well as from photographic imagery. She gathers her source material by taking candid pictures of her boyfriend, along with friends and standup comedians in addition to mining American cinema for obscure screenshots. Through painting, she distills these varying images into silent and moody scenes torn from their source. She is noted for rendering a strong sense of atmosphere, tension and sense of the uncanny.
Abbey Rosko is a visual artist currently based in Easton, PA. She earned her BA in studio art from Moravian College in 2015. Rosko was awarded the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation in 2019. She exhibits regionally and in Brooklyn as a member of NYC Crit Club. Her work is included in several private collections, as well as the permanent collection of the Ugly Art Room in Corvallis, OR.
